Is age a barrier in the dating game?
Permalink Closed

Greetings everyone,

I know it's been a long time since I last posted anything so I'll try and make up for the time lost. (p.s.: By the way, it's not entirely my fault, everytime I come in to check on the forum it's never active anyways)

In the dating game, it commonly heard of and socially acceptable for a much older man to date, etc. with much younger women. We commonly refer to them simply as "dirty old men". However it is a totally different ball game altogether for a much older women to have a toy boy. Though holywood has brought this issue up to date with women the likes of Demi Moore, Sharon Stone, Halle Berry all dating younger men, I believe it is still rather rare in Asian societies and frowned upon.

So what would be your take if all of a sudden someone we all know, let's say for example Wei Inn started dating a first year Bronze Med student? Hmmm, gets you thinking doesn't it!

Anyways, on a personal note, I have no issues with mature women dating younger men. In fact it is more biologically compatible for both. So, to all the still single women out there who keep worrying that their age will catch up with them, just give it a shot and try nabbing a hot young stud. (Just don't be a paedophile) If you don't try, you never know.

(So,to Wei Inn, if you ever want to date someone younger, you have my full support)

Till next time. XOXO

My, my, dear Loy Chee. How dare you refer to Wei Inn as mummy. Very berani ah you.

You must remeber, once we have reached a certain age, we become very concious of our age. You do not want to end up insulting or offending someone.wink

To be frank and honest, age affects everyone whether we like it or not. It is the one truth that we can't run away from. It's just that it affects some sooner and others later.

I'll admit, when I was younger, I wanted so badly to grow up and mature so that I would be taken seriously. But once you hit a certain point, things change. You begin to realize all the things we used to take for granted when we were younger. We miss those things and wish we could have it back. Regrets that were never fullfilled.

So, I'll admit it. Yes. I"m worried at my age. I worry that I've hit my prime and there other way but downhill from now on. I worry for chances, moments, people, etc that have passed without me realising them and I will never get the chance to live them again.

Growing old SUCKS!

Evan, please don't misunderstand me, Wei Inn is so caring and nice to other people just like my mummy... that is the attractive part of Wei Inn..

Getting older is not getting more mature, I agree that..

age is not a barrier?
i dun think so.
consider the following case.
a 20yo girl with a 40yo guy? may be at the starting, the girl would feel very good as the 40yo guy is matured enough to take care her.But think abt Long term relationship.
do u think the girl will happy when she is 30yo, her husband already 50!
how? any idea? may be some will said true love wont care abt this. to me , i feel that true love not evrything, one day that girl sure will regret.

There is some truth in what you say, but then again, you do not speak for everyone. This is another reflection of the shallowness of many people, we only want to be with someone when they look good or presentable. When the person is already old or past their prime, they are no longer considered worthy.

This brings up the question, why are you with that person in the first place? Was it for pure material gains? Was he/she rich? Or was that person good looking? A model? Someone you could obtain good genes from to make beautiful children? What was it?

So, once that person has lost that particular quality that you valued in the first place, he/she is now considered unworthy anymore. If you are with the person for his/her personality, soul, inner qualities, do these change over time? Can they be lost?

Many questions, just like the many flaws of being human. We are all fickle and indecisive. One moment we want this, and the next we want something else.

Sigh!

Spoiler

Well, at the very beginning of a relationship, both will be attracted by the external qualities (Edwin Kon - washboard abs, Xiao Bai - cuteness). But as one advances deeper (if there's no breakups) both will start to notice the more personal/internal qualities, such as speech, those subtle actions, thinking, feelings and so on. From thereafter, age barrier will no longer play it's role. It is the psychological/mental magnet that pulls them together rather than the age magnet. What Edwin says applies to the younger generation, but as you grow older, you will have a whole new perspective on one's age in a relationship....

true love, that's everyone final destination in a relationship.

I cant see the future of a relationship that has a 20yo gap.

Anyway, everyone would hav different needs. Actually if the man is good to his young wife, by right should be alright. Good, secure live promised by the man. If that girl satisfy , den they can proceed til the end of their life-a happy ending.

But bared in mind, 20yo age gap means u two will actually having a totally different lifestyle. so, all this should be considered.

Yeah, true... like an older female might start shopping for grannny undies while the hot younger toyboy opts for T-back leopard print thongs.

well.. we as side viewer will never noe how is exactly the feeling of young-old couple. unless u been in it before.

after all, it is their own freedom to choose their companion. there will be no pro if they really can lead a happy life forever and ever. even nowadays, young-young couple that can live forever and ever de is very less ad.

somemore old-young couple is better than guy-guy or gal-gal couple ba.. (no discriminating)

I've been busy of late. Haven't had much time to log in. Even when I do, I just take a quick read.
Don't worry, I'm still around. Haven't gone anywhere. Quietly reading from the side lines...

agree^^ interest...not necessary as long as sharing of interest could be no problem...but maturity does~!

in long run people will change,at least the speed will do.

some grow up faster, the other stil at the back, if waiting not possible, both lifes are no longer in the same track...

relationship need watering...
