I'm sure most of you are curious as to why I started this topic. Well, let me inform you all. As most of you know, I'm circulating around my book of mementos for the members to pen me a few words. It would be a book for me to collect my fondest memories I have had with the corps over the years.
Today, as I was flippping through the book, I suddenly came across the page that was written by Alex Wong. To my astonishment and sheer horror, he spelled my name as AVANT!!!! How on earth did he come up with that? How in God's name did he come up with that spelling for my name? Your guess is as good as mine.
This now leads me on to my topic of discussion. It has already been one semester, and this is prove that some members do not even know their fellow memebers very well or at least lack the initiative to do so.
Does this mean that all our efforts of organising the interaction day to bring the members closer together has been a total failure?
Share with me your thoughts on this issue. Does Interaction Day really help to foster a stronger corps and improve relations among the members, or is it up to the members themselves?
p.s.: To Alex is you ever read this, my name is spelled as EVAN. Remember that.

Just a joke or what???? The 4 letter EVAN is the first low-profile name I know leh~
I think we can work more on teamwork and understanding activities lar... Using the most recent IDay as example, it seems that the interaction is not enough..

ROFLMAOBBQMARSHMELLOWS!!!!
Hi Avant Quah, seems that your name resembles a model of a car.... Let me think.... Let me think.... Yeah! Mercedes Benz. For their C, E, S, class models, they have different lines, the Elegant, Classic and AVANTGARDE!!!!
Maybe he's trying to imply that you look and feel like Merc's top line model?

Don't worry, I think it happens quite often to people around you too hahahha. Anyway, I have observed some friends of mine in the past and this is a sort of 'theory' that I can provide la, which I am also not very sure bcos it's not like I have done survey or anything, so please take what I am going to say with a pinch of salt and don't take it to heart.
I noticed that mostly Chinese-ed beings are less concerned to the way that our names are spelled in alphabets, but they are more likely to get it right if you were to tell them your chinese name.
I have also gotten written names like Su In, Su Ying, Sue Inn, etc. I initially felt like hey, it's my name ok! It's so simple, just get it right. But then, I kind of get used to it and as long as they don't deviate from my real name then I'm not so bothered la.
Come to think of it, Avant sounds much more classy and sophisticated . Ditch Evan.

Su Yin, Alex is an Eng-ed student, he only know how to speak Chinese, not write or read. I think he's only making a joke to Evan. See, now he can remember him well for the "purposely mis-spelled name".

when i tell them my name is Mun Pung in mandarine... they have to ask me which Mun and which Pung... as if i know... which of course... i don't... hahaha...
on the other hand... guys like me... would never get their names right into my head until i know how to spell their name... whether is wei inn, wee yin or wai yen... maybe we were trained to be sensitive with alphabets... and they...with words...

mandarin al in words, this is our vy 1st exposure..
First and foremost, thank you for all your generous feedback. I would just like to point out that we are drifting away from the topic of discussion here. We would like to know if interaction day actually helps in strengthening the ties between members or is it up to the individual themselves to take initiative.
Hey Evan, be thankful that your misspelled name sounds so 'ala grande'... Unlike mine... Other than the common Teh/The and some different versions of Jo and Lynn, there some people that twisted my name that it disgustingly rhymes in Hokkien, which I won't get there... -.-|||

I think I know which Hokkien Rhymes you're refering to. Hehehe...
I think Int day is a way to improve the interaction between lifeguards... There are many factors, maybe time constraint, cooperation among members, willingness to share with each others... Int Day in dusun eco is not very good because of the time and tired...we are rush, no time to interact with all the others, or else, others may be very tired and sleep already, so no interaction with the ppl outside their dreams... So, in my opinion, Int Day is serve as a platform for interaction but the most important part is the willingness of the members to cooperate...Interaction games are a tool to solve this kind of problem, it might be help...
So, next S & R members, I hope u all can suggest and create more interactive kind of games...hehehe...proactive la~
