Correct methods are vital!

For the coming intructors (Juniors or Seniors), Pls make sure u all teach the correct methods during BM, BC and even awards and dist. This is very important to keep the quality of USM life saving course.

For any uncertainty, pls ask and seek for help from the seniors and refer to the notes. As u can actually post any questions here to clarify oso.biggrin

Hey all,

As the SEIKO for the last 2 years, I cannot agree more with what the others have said.
The basic life saving skills are very CRUCIAL!
Especially in the first two levels: Bronze Med and Cross.
I know this is going to sound corny, but it is like building a house. You will need a strong foundation before you can build the roof.

To all the current and future instructors please be very sure of your skills. If you are unsure of certain skills, do not hesitate to clarify the matter with myself, Joshua, Kenneth or some of the senior instructors.

Sometimes there are changes in certain aspects of the skills, and we may discuss on certain issues and get back to you all.

Lastly, teaching the correct techniques to the students is important as it has a domino effect towards the future generation of lifesavers and lifeguards. USM is proud to boost one of the most stringent assessments on lifesaving in Malaysia. We must keep up the standard and maintain our reputation. If we teach poor lifesaving to the juniors, they will in turn teach that to their juniors and the quality of our course will deteriorate. We reap what we sow!

All the best.

i m agree with evan.. the important thing is how u teach ur student or the way.. let them understand behind the skill that u teach.. then tell them Y Y Y Y u should do that..understand is very important in BM n BC.

intructor need to planning the program based on the situation...kambateh!!!!

Again, Beside theory, if u uncertain with some techniques or skill....

Remember (xn).... Ask whoever u think is suitable because BM students are freshy that adsorb everything u teach them end out with wrong methods being applied if u teach the wrong things...

Explanation on the reason behind of some skills will help the students understand more. So work hard now for future and existed intructors.

from my point of view, yes correct method is essential but i agree with joshua.. u all must understand why and how each skill is done.. frankly speaking most of instructors jz teach but didnt let their students to understand for time consuming.. i noe being instructor is hard so planning ur teaching is important..
and anyway try to think the skill to be apply in real situation.. for me, the best way is not to do R&D or towin but rather just approach victim slowly and observe.. try to think and keep urself safe distance from victim.. if the victim is big as kenneth then u hav to consider ur strength tho.. think before u act it can save ur life..
